Lavender Honey
4 Folhas
Lavender Honey is a high quality product, iconic for its golden hue and distinct floral aroma.
Produced in apiaries exclusively through the polen of Lavender flowers (Lavandula stoechas), this honey variety is one of the most prestigious in Portugal.
Beekeeping, a practice with roots in ancient Mediterranean societies, has always played a vital role in providing food and medicine and in religious rituals. In ancient Greece, for instance, beekeepers travelled long distances with their hives to make the most of the flowering cycles of different plants. Over the years, new techniques have also been developed, such as producing monofloral honey. While it is unclear whether this practice was an accident or intentional from the beginning, it now ensures a consistent and unique flavour for different types of honey.
This is evident in our rosemary honey, which is produced in the Serra da Malcata nature reserve, located between the regions of Beira Alta and Beira Baixa. This location, which sees little human activity, provides an ideal, natural environment for bees.
As the name suggests, this honey is produced exclusively from Lavender pollen (Lavandula stoechas). It is this pollen that gives the honey its iconic golden colour and intense floral aroma.
